Duxford WW2 Air base England (A part of the Imperial War Museum)

Currently has the largest collection of American combat aircraft outside the United States in the ultra modern American Air Museum designed by Foster and Partners.

The collection includes a vintage B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell, P-47 Thunderbolt, and aircraft from the Cold War era such as a B-52 Stratofortress, SR-71 Blackbird and F-4 Phantom, with many suspended from the ceiling as if in flight.

It's an amazing museum and well worth a day trip from London, as is the whole WW2 section of the Duxford base. Duxford is also the home of the major airshows in the UK in the summer months, with superb displays of all vintage aircraft from WW1 and especially WW2 in action.

Fancy watching 3 squadrons of Spitfires in formation thundering down the strip at 250 mph with Merlins singing - you will see it a Duxford air show!
